Dog Fest 2017:
September 30th, 2017
The ECMKC is an area organization devoted to promoting responsible dog ownership. Meetings are held monthly on the second Tuesday night at McAlister’s Deli at Bonita at 6:30 p.m. OR following the dog obedience classes in the spring and fall schedules. The Kennel Club is actively soliciting new members.
Kennel Club members have many years of experience with various aspects of dog ownership and activities. Members have participated in AKC dog shows and obedience trials, search and rescue, therapy dog activities and service dog training, among other activities. Some are currently active in rescue.
The ECMKC sponsors two dog obedience training classes each year. Classes are held at the Frank Cochran Center in Highland Park on Wednesday nights and continue for 8 weeks. Puppy Kindergarten is offered for dogs 3-6 months of age. Adult Basic Obedience is available for dogs 6 months and older. Advanced Basic Obedience is open to any dog that has successfully completed Adult Basic Obedience or equivalent training. Proof of vaccination is required. Discounts are available for rescues and multi-dog training from the same household. Positive training methods are used. Spring classes generally begin in February and fall classes usually start in September. Watch for advertising and flyers at your local veterinarian.
The Kennel Club has recently begun sponsoring a low cost spay/neuter program for dogs and cats. The application process and requirements for class attendees and members are discussed prior to successful application. Information and an application for service are available from Club officers.
ECMKC also participates in other local dog activities and sponsors activities from time to time. Watch for information regarding our annual “Dog Fest” with Fun Match and many activities for our canine pals.
